First, recognize the importance of warming up before you actually begin to play. While bowling may be a fun and relaxing activity it is still never the less a sport and like any other sport it requires some fairly strenuous work. Therefore it is important to make sure that you start off on the right foot and make sure your body is prepared for the work before you get started. Warm-up exercises are a great way to get started and can also help to prevent possible injury that might result if your body is not conditioned and ready. Not only will warm up exercises less the possibility of injury but it can also improve your performance.

You can get started with the following exercises:

While stretching is an important part of any warm up routine, many people are not aware that they should actually do a warm up before beginning their stretches. While stretching should not ever be painful, pre warm up can help to prevent any risk of injury.

Remember the importance of deep breathing during your warm up exercises. Hold your breath for about 6 seconds in between taking deep breaths. This will help to condition your lungs and keep you from getting tired so easily.

Stretches are a great way to warm up. Try to hold each stretch for about 8 seconds are so to give your muscles time to get conditioned.

Be sure you spend some time stretching your arms before you begin to play. This provides proper toning so your arms can handle the strain and weight of the ball.

Be aware that if you’re not sweating at least a little when you are warming-up you probably are not doing enough. The sweat process is an important part of warming-up because it allows your body temperature to begin rising. This will prevent you from releasing more heat when you really get started playing.

In addition to taking the time to warm up before you get started playing you can also improve your game by taking the time to work on areas that you know to be a problem and spending some time developing and maintaining a good technique.

One of the most important areas of the game to work on can often be attitude. It is imperative to have a desire to improve your game in order to do so. Spending hours practicing won’t get you the results you need if your attitude is not one of enthusiasm.

Don’t be afraid to get some help in improving your game. Working with a coach is a great way to see a big difference in how you play. He or she will be able to point out both what you are doing right and what should be improved on. Think about joining a class or even working with a friend who is a good bowler.

It is also important not to underestimate the power of practice. Even if you are just a recreational bowler, plan to spend at least 4 hours per week practicing. While that may seem like a lot, it is an important part of improving your game if you are serious about it.
Be aware that you don’t necessarily have to go to the lanes to practice, although that’s a good idea too. If you’re at home, you can practice your swing and approach to help get a consistent feel. A long hallway works great.

Taking the time to warm up first, practice, have a good attitude and get some help when you need it can pay off in a greatly improved game.
